Medusa Brewing named Manufacturer of the Year 2018

BOSTON – For the second year in a row, a MetroWest brewery has been honored as Manufacturer of the Year.

On Tuesday, during a ceremony at the Statehouse, the House Manufacturing Caucus named Medusa Brewing Company one of 59 Manufacturers of the Year.

State Rep. Kate Hogan, a Democrat from Stow whose district includes Hudson, nominated Medusa for the award.

“It was a complete honor – a total surprise,” said Medusa co-founder Keith Sullivan. “Kate was very proud of us being a brewery on Main Street. We’re doing a lot of good work helping the ground grow and reinvesting in it.”

Exhibit ‘A’ Brewing Company of Framingham won the same award last year.

Medusa Brewing Company is one of three breweries to receive the award this year. Slumbrew, of Somerville, and Cape Cod Beer, of Hyannis, were also honored.

That three breweries were honored at once appears to show that breweries are earning respect in the manufacturing world.

“We’re not only creating jobs, but we are sparking and maintaining economic development,” said Sullivan. “Being in town with a brewery may attract other manufacturers to town because it’s a sign the community is doing well. Breweries bring in jobs and bring in restaurants. Breweries and restaurants bring in visitors and visitors bring in companies. Breweries are being well-recognized for being an economic catalyst.”

Sullivan and his partners, Keith Antul and Tom Sutter, opened Medusa Brewing Company in 2015 at 111 Main St., Hudson.

Sullivan said the award will help inspire him along with the rest of the crew at Medusa to keep going forward and to not settle for what they’ve accomplished so far.

“We’re very proud of this and we’re going to keep going,” Sullivan said.

It feels like it was yesterday when we first opened our taproom doors to Main Street. When we look back at how far we have come, how much our family has grown, and how many of you have graced our taproom, we are humbled. THE BLACK ALE PROJECT RAISES OVER $7000 AT MEDUSA BREWING COMPANY

Within two short weeks of its debut, the Black Ale Project Milk Stout was drained of its entire 217 gallon (14 keg) supply! Offered for pints in the Medusa taproom as well as in growlers to go, the total amount of beer sold raised $7095 after taxes; all of which will be donated to the New England Center and Home for Veterans. The NECHV is a Boston-based charity that Medusa Brewing Company chose for this project based on their exemplary track record of providing homes to veterans in need of shelter.

"WET RAKAU", the latest in our Solo Project series, is a single-hopped American Pale Ale featuring whole cone, wet Rakau hops grown at Four Star Farms in Northfield, MA! We put together this little video to show just how cool everything about this is!

MORE HOURS & MORE BEER!

We are excited to announce yet another expansion of our taproom hours. Beginning this week, we are now pulling our weekday opening time back to 3:00PM, adding in Mondays, and opening Fridays at NOON! In addition to opening earlier, we are also planning to stay open a little later each night, but will take this on a day-to-day basis.

If you've been to the taproom lately, you may have notice a higher number of beers available on draft and in growlers. Head Brewer Keith Antul has been brewing beer like crazy to meet demand, and we've finally hit a nice balance. Around this time last year, our draft list will likely have featured about 8 different beers. Today, we have TWENTY on draft and plan to keep that number up there. Check out our draft list for what's current!
